Management Plug-ins (MPIs)

The boom agent provides the infrastructure to monitor and manage systems. The agent’s main responsibilites are the scheduling, thresholding, correlation, suppression and other necessary processing steps as well as the communication with the boom server. The actual monitoring is configured and performed by so called Management PlugIns (MPI). Such MPIs contain the knowledge what needs to be monitored and how to monitor it. Generally an MPI is a combination of binaries/scripts/executables, policies, remote actions and assignment configurations.

MySQL DB MPI

The netage Management Plug-in (MPI) for MySQL databases enables professional monitoring and problem detection for the MySQL database instances. The MPI adds MySQL database monitoring and management capabilities to the boom server.

The MySQL DB MPI is an adapted version of the MySQL DB SPI (Smart Plug-In) for HP OMU/OMW with 100% identical code. The MPI version (boom compatible) has an additional component to the SPI version (HP OMU/OMW compatible) that ensures a secure and fast interconnection with the boom server.

OS MPI

OS MPIs for Linux, Windows, MacOS X, HP-UX, SunOS are available only with boom Server package. Please see the boom download page.

AS/400, iSeries, and System i MPI

In cooperation with the data center Bad Kreuznach (www.rzkh.de) and Bender DV Service (www.bender-dv.de), the MPI for System i (AS/400) is now generally available. Standard monitoring functionality (ASP usage, sub-system status, …) is included in this boom MPI, as well as job queues und logfile monitoring.

Ganglia clusters / Apache Hadoop MPI
